Commissioners

Dick is a graduate of MSU-Bozeman in Agricultural Business and Physical Education. He has been a basketball commissioner for BSSG for many years. He has also officiated high school and college football, and was a MOA Basketball Official for over 20 years. Zier is the owner of Dick Zier Brokerage.

Rodd has been playing basketball for 50 years, and has participated in the Men's Master's basketball division of the Games for over 20 years. He has served as basketball commissioner for BSSG for many years, and has also participated in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Rodd is employed at Calton, Hamman and Wolff PC.

Kyle Schlichenmayer has played basketball his whole life. He was a 3-year starter for Billings West, and played in the State Games every year until college. He has a Business degree from the University of Montana, and recently moved back to Billings from Denver. He works as a Financial Services professional with New York Life Insurance Company and NYLIFE Securities LLC.

Marcell Bruski graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Communication Studies. During her time at Rocky she was a MOA Basketball and Volleyball official. Marcell works at the Billings Chamber of Commerce.

Brian is a 2010 graduate of The University of Montana-Missoula with a Bachelors in Business Finance. Brian currently officiates both high school and collegiate basketball all around Montana, most recently finishing up his 12th year in the avocation working the State A Boys State Championship game. Brian is a Loan Officer at Yellowstone Bank in Billings and has been in the banking industry his entire adult career. Brian serves on multiple boards around Yellowstone County and is currently serving as Board President at Mid-Yellowstone Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Patrick Klugman received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Minnesota State University Moorhead and his Masters Degree in Public Administration from MSU-Billings. Patrick officiates as a Certified MOA Official during the basketball season and enjoys participating in multiple golf, basketball, and softball leagues. Klugman works as a Senior Project Manager at Big Sky Economic Development.

State Games of America Qualifier

All 2017 and 2018 Big Sky State Games medalists, and some 2019 medalists are eligible to compete in the
2019 State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Sites and Starting Times

Starting times vary per site. Brackets and information are mailed and emailed to contact person registered on Team Entry Form, prior to event. First round pairings will be listed online and published in the Billings Gazette newspaper insert Friday, July 14 (Copies available at t-shirt pick-up).

Adding/Changing Roster

After you've registered your team(s) for an event, you can continue to add or change players using the appropriate form on our website until July 10. Please read our Sport Rules for more information. Each roster change/addition will be evaluated by the sport commissioner and the Big Sky Games office upon submission. Big Sky Games and the Sport Commissioner reserve the right to approve or deny any submission. No refunds will be provided should a submission be denied.

Special Information

Please Note the following:

  • Registration may close early if the division fills.
  • All teams must provide a scorekeeper or timer for every game.
  • You are responsible for brining your own practice balls and game balls.
  • You will follow the sport rules listed.

Event Check In

Teams must check in fifteen (15) minutes before game by reporting to scoring table with a typed or printed team roster prior to each game played. Roster must be identical to entry form roster.

Equipment

Each team member must wear a numbered jersey or T-shirt. Arrive at the site dressed to play. No locker rooms or towels will be provided.

Admission

There is a daily admission charge for spectators. All team members receive FREE ADMISSION by checking in at the site where they first play each day.

Sportsmanship and Conduct

Good sportsmanship is required when addressing volunteer officials and scorekeepers. Unsportsmanlike conduct is not accepatable and will be penalized ad deemed appropriate by the officials.

Scholastic Rules

Divisions
  • Divisions are based on the grade players will be entering as of September 2018 (players may play up but not down).
  • Seniors graduating in Spring 2018 are not eligible to play Scholastic Basketball; however, they are eligible to play Adult Basketball.
  • Teams subject to disqualification for players in wrong division.
  • Players may not play on more than one team in a division.
  • Games will not be rearranged for players with scheduling conflicts due to play in two divisions.

Playing Up

Players can play up to another grade, but not down. Playing in the wrong division is subject to disqualification. Please make sure you specify the correct division/grade.
