Commissioners

Mike is the commissioner for Sporting Clays, Five Stand, Action Shooting Sports, and Skeet. He is a Montana native. Mike graduated from Sidney High School and Montana State University. He purchased the Blue Creek Sport Shooting Complex in 2014. Since then, he has been busy lining up all kinds of shooting competitions, including NRA 3Gun, Billings Top Shot, and various clay shooting events. Mike is the head coach of the Blue Creek Smokin' Guns youth shooting team, which competes in trap, skeet, sporting clays, and pistol. He was recently named the Montana Scholastic Clay Target Program Sporting Clay Commissioner.

State Games of America Qualifier

All 2017 and 2018 Big Sky State Games medalists, and some 2019 medalists are eligible to compete in the
2019 State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Current sports are:

Archery, Basketball, Biathlon, Billiards, Bowling, Cycling (Mountain Bike), Disc Golf, Equestrian, Fencing, Figure Skating, Golf, Ice Hockey, Karate, Lacrosse, Pickleball, Racquetball, Road Race, Shooting, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tae Kwon Do/Judo, Tennis, Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

All Shooting Events

  • New Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Shooters WELCOME!
  • National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) rules govern all shooting, but you need not be a member to compete.
  • Free NSSA and Montana Skeet Shooting Association (MSSA) membership to new shooters ($50 value).
  • EYE AND EAR PROTECTION IS REQUIRED.

Registration/Awards
  • Due to limited fields, pre-registration is recommended.
  • One t-shirt per athlete with pre-registration.
  • Nonregistered and registered NSSA targets allowed.
  • For questions or additional information call (406-670-1183).
  • Awards will be presented immediately following the competition.
Class Definitions
  • Beginner: New to shotgun sports.
  • Intermediate: Familiar with skeet/has shot some leagues.
  • Experienced: Frequent shooter/familiar with all shotgun sports/experienced league shooter.
  • Lewis Class awards depending upon number of competitors and associated experience levels.
Target Fees

Juniors and Sub Juniors may choose not to shoot doubles at required stations or be requested to do so by referee. Target Fees payable at gun club on day of event. DO NOT INCLUDE TARGET FEES WITH STATE GAMES ENTRY FEES.
