Commissioners

Misty Zahn has been involved with rugby since she began playing in college in 1997 for the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. Misty moved back to Montana from Wisconsin about 10 years ago. She is currently the State Administrator for Rugby Montana, Missoula Valley Iron Vixens Head Coach, and Varsity Coach for the Rugby Montana All-Star team. Outside of rugby, she works as a Project Coordinator for Territorial Landworks, Inc.

State Games of America Qualifier

All 2015 and 2016 Big Sky State Games medalists, and some 2017 medalists are eligible to compete in the
2017 State Games of America in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Current sports are:

Archery, Basketball, Billiards, Bowling, Cycling, Disc Golf, Fencing, Figure Skating, Flag Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Karate, Lacrosse, Pickleball, Racquetball, Road Race, Rollerskating, Shooting, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tae Kwon Do/Judo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track & Field, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

Adding/Changing Roster

After you've registered your team(s) for an event, you can continue to add or change players using the appropriate form on our website until July 10. Each roster change/addition will be evaluated by the sport commissioner and the Big Sky Games office upon submission. Big Sky Games and the Sport Commissioner reserve the right to approve or deny any submission. No refunds will be provided should a submission be denied.

Special Information

  • Must have USA Rugby number to participate.
  • All players must be or have been enrolled enrolled in high school, middle school or an educational institute for the purposes of obtaining a GED for the 2016-2017 school year.
  • The game is played by 7 players on each side. Each team is only allowed 5 reserves per game, and they’re permitted to make five substitutions. Unlike in 15s, a player can re-enter the match after he or she has been subbed out.
  • Games take place between two teams for a total of two 7-minute halves, with a 1- or 2-minute half time break. The championship final is played with 10-minute halves.
