Our 2020 Photo Contest contest is now open! Please submit your photos by August 25, 2020 to be considered for the contest.

The Big Sky State Games is holding a photo contest for the best sports/event photo of the current year, and we need your help! We are looking for photos of all types, including action shots, candids, group photos, photos of Opening Ceremonies, and shots of anything fun! Submit up to five photos, and have fun with it!

How to Submit your Top 5 Favorite Photos

To submit one or more photos (maximum of 5), simply click the entry button below and it will take you to our SmugMug page. Then, upload your photos. Make sure to include the name of the photographer and sport (i.e. FirstName_LastName_Sport) captured in the photo(s). After that email your contact information to

35th Anniversary Contest

In commemoration of Big Sky State Game’s 35 th Anniversary; Big Sky State Games is offering a contest to all past and present participants to deliver their fondest memories.

Three categories will be judged:

  1. Best Montanan athletic feat/accomplishment.
  2. Best Montanan amateur sports blooper.
  3. Best retro photo/outfit from a previous year’s event.

A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the grand prize winner. $30 Scheels gift cards will be given to the winners of the other competing categories. Winners will be announced and presented during the BSSG 2020 Opening Ceremonies at Daylis Stadium on July 17 th . Contest opens June 22 nd . Deadline for submissions is Friday, July 10th . 2019 Big Sky State Games Photo Contest Winners

The 6th Annual Big Sky State Games Photo Contest for the 34th Games was won by John Lamb of Billings for his Opening Ceremonies photo submission. Cindy Barnhart of Billings won the Silver medal for a photo submitted also from Opening Ceremonies. Mark Olsen of Billings won the Bronze medal for his photo from our inaugural Skateboarding competition. The winning images will also be entered in the National Congress of State Games National Photo Contest.
